Over the past few days, the Scottish Terrier and Dog News has stumbled over several Scottie dog names that we find to be — how shall we put it? — in questionable taste.
First there was this Scottish Terrier puppy called Halle. And now, there’s this little guy called Knowshon after the college football player.
Now, maybe it’s just me but I don’t like the idea of naming a black dog after a black person just because they both happen to be black. What do you all think? Is this an over-reaction or is there something not quite right about the whole thing?

Here’s our previous coverage of Scottie names where we implicitly endorse Scottish names for Scottish dogs.

In the coming days, the Scottish Terrier and Dog News will be featuring a special diet report. Unfortunately, scotties — along with labrador retrievers, cairn terriers, Cavalier King Charles spaniels and cocker spaniels — are among the dog breeds most at risk for becoming overweight.
The New York Times reported last year that while there is a strong correlation between fat pets and fat owners, many normal-weight pet owners have “dogs or cats that are dangerously overweight.
(What’s more,) while many (though clearly not all) French women may be slim, their dogs often are not. A team from Maisons-Alfort, France, found that among a ”healthy population” of 616 dogs that attended a vaccination clinic, 38.8 percent were overweight, including 5 percent that were obese. “

Your neighbours will think you’re watching a slasher film when they hear the soundtrack of this video of Bootsie the Scottish Terrier attacking a very loud rubber chicken. Or worse yet, they’ll call the cops thinking it’s real life and not just a Scottie dog video.
In previous chicken coverage, the Scottie Dog News reported on the case of the Scottish Terrier falsely accused of a poultry massacre.

Meanwhile in rescue news across the pond, Maxwell the wheaten Scottie rescue dog cleaned up real nice. You can read more about him over in the Flickr comments. Just click on the photo.

Notorious Scottish Terrier disser and Russian Preident Vladimir Putin is going to have his labrador retriever, Connie (aka Koni) outfitted with a “satnav” collar so that he can monitor her every movement. No word yet on whether Tosya the poodle will get the same treatment.

Hmmm, the Scottie News notices that the police aren’t giving out any information as to the identity of the pet dog who sniffed out the drug stash. Maybe they’re worried about irate drug dealers taking revenge on an innocent canine.
