Update: Thanks to the new holiday Barney video, we’re getting a lot of traffic looking for the scoop on President Bush and his Scottish terrier, so we thought we’d reprint our very favourite picture ever of the president and his Scottie dog. It’s Chapati Mystery’s wonderful acrylic.

And now on to the dog news of the day:

Just when Scottie Dog News was starting to wonder if the CIA might have destroyed it, this year’s special White House Christmas video of Barney, the first dog, and his companion Scottish Terrier, Miss Beazley, is up on the web. Go here to the Barney home page, and look in the right-hand column where it says Barney’s Films: Barney Cam VI: Holiday in the National Parks.

Plot-wise, Scottie News is sorry to have to tell you that this video is somewhat lacking. What’s more, neither President Bush nor members of his family and cabinet are going to be winning any Oscars. But the holiday video makes up for its shortcomings with lots of interior scenes of the White House and a special guest appearance by a guy (Update: Scottie News can now reveal — since no one else had any qualms about revealing video spoilers — that the mystery man was none other than Tony Blair) who’s no doubt going to take a lot of flack for his cameo role. We also like the final scene which shows who’s boss. What would the Dog Whisperer say?
