Naming your Scottish Terrier: a controversy

in Scottish Terrier names

Over the past few days, the Scottish Terrier and Dog News has stumbled over several Scottie dog names that we find to be — how shall we put it? — in questionable taste.

First there was this Scottish Terrier puppy called Halle. And now, there’s this little guy called Knowshon after the college football player.

Now, maybe it’s just me but I don’t like the idea of naming a black dog after a black person just because they both happen to be black. What do you all think? Is this an over-reaction or is there something not quite right about the whole thing?

Here’s our previous coverage of Scottie names where we implicitly endorse Scottish names for Scottish dogs.

Yeah…a little over reaction here (imo).

Don’t people give their dogs names that they enjoy saying?
