The Scottish Terrier and Dog News is introducing a new Wednesday feature. Every week we’ll look at Scottish Terriers around the world, and to start things off, we’re offering you a double feature: London and Paris.

Regular readers know we have a soft spot for the Scottish Terriers of France or, as they say in French, “Les Scottish,” so voilà, Paris.

Now, for those of you who prefer the great city on the other side of the channel, the London Dog blog has fine photos of Jack, a two-year-old Scottish Terrier who is always at the door of a hotel near King’s Cross station. Check out all the other breeds while you’re there.

Our sister site, the Daily Dachshund and Dog News, has a raw food diet report, which includes photos of a Dachshund dismembering a lamb’s head in a manner reminiscient of a serial killer. NOt sure we’d want to see a Scottish Terrier caught in the act. Viewer discretion advised.

This story comes from the Associated Press because as regular readers know the Scottie Dog News is committed to covering nudity when it is Scottish-Terrier-and-dog-news related.

The Scottish Terrier and Dog News reported yesterday that Scotties are considered high risk when it comes to obesity. So if your Scot is a little on the chubby side, we’re offering some exercise and diet tips. Just as is the case with humans, there are no easy solutions when it comes to shedding pounds. So, sorry, no miracle cures — just a link to this site offers a lot of good information on weight loss in dogs.

Needless to say, exercise is a factor in getting and keeping weight off dogs. The great outdoors is always the best option but if you live in a snowy, cold clime with a dog who gets sore paws in winter, you might want to consider a workout on the treadmill. Small Dogs Paradise has a great three-part series on dogs and treadmills.

Part 1 – Is dog treadmill a must-have?
Part 2 – Dos and Don’ts of exercising your dogs on the treadmill
Part 3 – A step-by-step exercising guide

Looks like Emily (above) could stand to take a few treadmill lessons from our hard-bodied Scottie treadmill expert.

22 New Year’s resolution for dogs. If the Scottish Terrier and Dog News had to pick just one that we would like to see kept, it would definitely be number 11.
