Faithful readers and — what the heck! — not so faithful ones too, would you like to help out the Scottish Terrier and Dog News?

If you have a website or a blog, all you have to do is link to us because the more links we have, the more Google respects us and, the higher we rank in Google, the more readers we get, and the more readers we get, the more credibility we have and the more likely it is we’ll achieve world dog publishing dominance. So, please, if you can, link to us. In return, we’d be glad to link to you. Just leave your URL in the comments or send an e-mail to scottishterriernews@gmail.com Thanks in advance from the Scottie News.

The Eurovision song contest‘s not ’til May, but this Lithuanian Scottie video is good enough to keep you going until the preliminary rounds get under way in Belgrade. Chunga changa la la la la la chunga changa la da da da dee.

The Scottish Terrier and Dog News believes the Scottie in this video has definite rock star potential. His ears are to dogs what Mick Jagger’s lips are to humans.

We would, however, like to advise his breeder and videographer– Tikras Bildukas of Lithuania — that the dog’s human co-stars should lose the puffy jackets and get some Abba-style spandex jumpsuits if thing are really going to take off.

Stuff white people like: Terriers

by AnnB on March 30, 2008 · 0 comments

The vigiliante actions and irresponsible race baiting of the New York City dog group CREDO, which fights for stricter leash laws, have at least served one purpose. They’ve given the Scottish Terrier and Dog News an excuse to link to the year’s hottest blog, Stuff White People Like, because, as you can see from the pictures, one of the things white people like are terriers.

Or as Common would say:

Why white folks focus on dogs and yoga
While people on the low end trying to ball and get over

Och!

Update: The Terrierman has posted a fantastic article that he wrote for Dog World magazine on earthdog trials also known as “go to ground.” Everything including the tunnels and the caged rats, is explained very clearly (not the case in a lot of other articles) and you come away wanting to sign up your terrier.

Way back when Helen won the Scottish Terrier and Dog Newsfirst ever Oscar contest, we promised to investigate the story of her choice, which was earth dogs and hunting Scotties. I apologize for being somewhat remiss, but it’s time to get things started so here’s a link to a very informative Earth Dog page courtesy of the equally informative Scottish Terrier Home Page. As for hunting Scotties, I’m not turning up a whole lot. Even the Terrier Man, who specializes in hunting terriers, rarely has Scottie news because he doesn’t think much of the current breed standard.

Readers, if you know anything, please share your knowledge in the comments. You can also click on the photo above, which will take you over to Flickr where there are a lot more details and pictures of an earth dog course.

And here’s some video of dog students — including a Westie — doing an “Introduction to Quarry”

Regular readers will remember Mavis from the last time she appeared on a Friday. And since it is the day before the weekend, we’re bringing you a non-Scottie, non-dog video.

A reader writes:

Hello:

We lost our two black Scotties last year at 15 & 16 years of age. We need another Scottie in our lives but cannot bring ourselves to buy another black one.

We are having a great deal of trouble finding a wheaten Scottie (preferably female). There seem to be more in the States but we don’t feel the trauma of shipping would be fair to a pup.

We live in Halifax, NS, are semi retired and go to Florida every winter for 3 months. We are sad without a furry friend. Can you help us?

Kind regards,
M.E.

Hmm, I know there’s a Wheaten breeder near Kingston, but don’t know anything else about them and that’s still a long way from Halifax.

Readers, anyone have any tips?

Edible art: A Scottish Terrier cookie

Would you like a Scottie biscuit, old chap?

Or perhaps you’d rather have a wirehaired Fox Terrier with some gentleman’s relish?

Or how about a chocolate turkey with fondant stuffing?

Apparently the artist served this turkey for Thanksgiving dessert. “Turkey for dinner (Thanksgiving) and turkey for dessert! Can you imagine what the guests thought when a second turkey came to the table when they were expecting pumpkin pie?”she asks. To tell you the truth, the Scottie News can’t.

View all the different breeds of dog cookies plus the Taj Mahal.

If they taste as good as they look, we want tobuy shares in the bakery!
