We are not at all fond of the Westie show ring haircut, but then, a Scottish Terrier site would say that, wouldn’t it? In our opinion, the breed needs a new stylist.

I agree that the breed standard haircut needs to be updated! My Ozzie will never look like that! At least the Scottie “do” is the way they look normally! What a fun video for Westie lovers!

The head looks more like a Bichon cut than a terrier cut. I think it would benefit from less on top. I have friends with Westies and the cut they have look almost scottie looking. When I took my wheaton scotty in for her first cut, they put her down as Westie (didn’t beleive me when I said she was a Scotty…)and she got a very odd cut. We had a chat and after that they cut her as a scotty…which cost more btw at my groomer.
