The Des Moines Register reports:
Waukee Police Officers Derrick Spoerry and Bill Daggett carried a woman out of her house just as smoke turned to flames on Tuesday morning.
An hour later, firefighters brought out Maddie, the family’s black Scottish terrier, to join her.
There are several more photos of Maddie’s rescue in the newspaper’s photo gallery, including a shot of the Scottie receiving oxygen.

Note to self:
MAKE SURE YOUR LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT HAS ANIMAL OXYGEN MASKS/EQUIPMENT!!!!!! Like these guys. Well done! Very well done!
Don’t you love that the homeowner was wearing a Scottie top??? God love her. Bless them all for getting out safely. You gotta love a fire department (and police and EMTs, etc.)
