This is “our rescue scottie Mac singing along to the song ‘Loving You’. He always starts singing as soon as he hears this come on the radio, apparently he’s a big fan of Minnie Riperton!

Our family adopted Mac and Molly together as they were getting on so well at their temporary home. Molly was given away because her original owners became ill and unable to look after her, but Mac was rescued because he had a horrible past with abusive owners. When we first got them, Mac took a long while to get comfortable, he would cower when approached, never played with toys and he would even growl sometimes when a man would pet him. He’s been with us three years, it took a lot of work but he’s transformed into this loving Scottie who trusts his family and even cuddles up on the sofa with us, plays tug of war and loves to sing along when we sing or with certain songs that play, especially this Minnie Riperton song!

Scottie News finds it interesting that Mac’s companion Molly appears to have little musical interest — unlike these singing Scottish Terriers.

Happy Cinco de Mayo from Dr. Watson…(from Cambridge, MA.) According to his guardian Deborah, he’s saying…” Okay and Ole!, Mom… I know you like a good fiesta….but this scottie does not care for tequila…only single malt!”

Unusual markings make Wallace a Scottie celeb

Four-year-old Scottish Terrier Wallace has become a Facebook sensation, thanks to his unusual and distinctive markings, which give him a George Clooney-esque look.

According to Scottish Terrier Rescue Northwest:

His coloration is indeed unique but his conformation and character are all Scottie. We were told that his breeder tried to breed specifically to produce wheaten colored Scotties and that all the pups in his litter where in fact wheaten. Wallace’s coloration is undoubtedly from a latent gene combination not seen in Scotties for many, many generations. Wallace is truly one of a kind and he won’t be producing any offspring. He came to us neutered but we would have had it done anyway. We do not place intact Scotties. When they come to rescue they are removed from the breeding pool for their sake and the sake of the breed. We want Wallace and all the rescued Scotties that come to us to be loved and admired for who they are.

Dallas Dhu deep in the heart of Texas

Ken Ewing writes: “Dallas fills the void left by Whiskie, the late movie star. He joins Chivas and Cutty in the Ewing Scottie Gang.”

And yes, the Ewings do indeed hail from Dallas, Texas where they continue the excellent tradition of naming their Scotties after fine whiskeys. Dallas Dhu, by the way, means “Black Water Valley” in Gaelic. Hmm, shouldn’t that be black gold?

And speaking of Ewings in Dallas, the TV series will be making a comeback this summer.

Above are the puppies that topped the Scottie News last week. Their “fur mom” Sandy wrote: “It was a wonderfully fun photo to take and I’ll always remember that litter. It’s a wonder our household survived their childhood.”

In Los Angeles, looks count

Song and Dash are a brother and sister team from Los Angeles. Their guardian/sylist writes: “We left her hair a little longer since we couldn’t tell them apart. He, though, tends to almost yodel when he barks…..is that a trait?”
