Fabian , Jarmane and Rupert the Scottish Terrier

Meet Scottish Terrier and Dog News readers Fabian and Jarmane with their eight week old Scottie pup Rupert, who, according to our calculations, should be four months old now. He is lucky enough to have his own YouTube channel to document all his adventures so check it out. You can watch all his firsts from first walk to first outing at the park to first day at puppy class.

Scottish Terrier with wineA reader writes from Norway:

I am sending you a funny picture of my Scottie. Both he and my Westie are such a big part of my family so on warm summer evenings when we are sitting in the garden drinking a glass of wine, they always have a chair at the table. But they only drink water.  Happy Summer. Best regards Lise

Now, you all can write the caption.

Smitty the Scottish Terrier

The late, great Smitty

Margaret writes in memory of Smitty: “I am sad to report that I have just lost my faithful Smitty, the light of my life. He had been strong and healthy for ten years, with a calm disposition and charming manner. It was a tumor and his dear little heart just couldn’t hold out anymore, though he managed to make a brief recovery, providing a blessed week to think a miracle had happened and modern technology of sonograms were all wrong. As we know, there is no life worth living without a Scottie. Smitty was the grandson of Peggy Sue and he really was quite special.”

Margaret will be getting a new Scottie puppy later this month.

Flashback to this winter when Devon wrote: “Thought I’d share some photos of our 6 month old Scottie pup coming in from the snow.  Shortly after this photo was taken we shaved off his fringe.  He’s now snowball free!”

Hockey fan Mark wrote the Scottie News after the World Junior Championships in January. “As I was saying … He’s been moping around ever since Team Canada collapsed in the third period … (ha!) Actually … my Westie used to crawl into my hockey bag, too – I thought it was because of the “nice” smell … However, this bag is brand new and hasn’t even been used once! I guess it’s a “Terrier thing” …

Redgy the wheaten Scottish Terrier puppy at 4 months
The Scottish Terrier News is doing a giant mailbox clean-up and attempting to catch up on all our old mail. We thought we’d begin with an email that is exactly one-year old today.

It showed a picture of super cute, four-month-old Redgy of Dallas, who, today, would be 16-month-old Redgy, presumably still of Dallas and still super cute. He was one of Sassy’s all-boy litter so he’s no stranger to the media spotlight

Winter Tails

We may be getting into spring but Ellie, Rebus, Harvey and Malcolm (clockwise from top left) still rock the snowy look.

Celebratory Scotties

Whether they’re strutting in dog shows like Molly, celebrating a birthday like Cameron, or getting ready to carve a pumpkin like Malcolm, these dogs know how it’s done.

Perfect Pairs

Weederman and Pepper the “ScotChi”, Angus and Ozzie the Westie, Angus and Dougal, Packy and Mary all make dynamic duos.

Scotties and kids: double the cute!

Margot and Artie, the Scottie Top), a Toronto trio (middle) and Max and the late Jack, a “European” Scottie who weighed in at 54 lbs (bottom), prove Scotties are 100% kid-friendly in the right circumstances.

Finally!

As of March 20th, it’s officially spring so Nessie (top) and another Scottie can’t wait to get out there.

Happy spring! Thank you to everyone who sent in their pictures. Please keep sending them in to scottishterriernews@gmail.com. If for some reason, your photo got eaten by our mailbox, don’t be shy, resend it. We try to publish at least one photo from everyone who sends them in. Absolutely no one or no dog gets rejected, but they do sometimes get overlooked in error.

Because the Scottie News is thankful for all our readers both human and canine.

Pictured below are rescue dogs Max and Gus, who, according to their owner David, “found their rightful place in world living with my wife and myself. Max got as close as he could get (without breaking the screen) watching the video clips. Gus joins him to see what was up. When Max is not chasing squirrels he enjoys the fish tank and TV.”

We’re also thankful, as always, for cute wheaten Scottish Terrier puppies like Sassy’s brood:

Owner Sindee Hart of Shady Nook Scottie Farm writes:

During a vet visit on Nov 17, we learned that our wheaten Scottie female, Sassy, was going to whelp 7 puppies. Since the sire of this litter is our wheaten male, Red, we knew that there would be 7 beautiful wheaten babies soon. We have several people on a waiting list that were very excited about this litter. On her exact due date of Nov 24, Sassy delivered 7 beautiful babies with absolutely no problems. She sailed thru the delivery in a little over 2 hours, and all the babies are gorgeous – ranging from a dark red wheaten to a light champagne color…. Mom & babies are doing fine – we have attached a picture…. Only one problem – they are ALL BOYS !!
In our experience, and in talking to other breeders, we have not heard of a litter of this size being all boys…. Oh, and everyone on our waiting list wants a girl !!!

From all the Shady Nook Scotties – Have a great holiday season.

Copy that. I’ll think of all you Americans while I’m working. Enjoy your turkey.
