This is “our rescue scottie Mac singing along to the song ‘Loving You’. He always starts singing as soon as he hears this come on the radio, apparently he’s a big fan of Minnie Riperton!
Our family adopted Mac and Molly together as they were getting on so well at their temporary home. Molly was given away because her original owners became ill and unable to look after her, but Mac was rescued because he had a horrible past with abusive owners. When we first got them, Mac took a long while to get comfortable, he would cower when approached, never played with toys and he would even growl sometimes when a man would pet him. He’s been with us three years, it took a lot of work but he’s transformed into this loving Scottie who trusts his family and even cuddles up on the sofa with us, plays tug of war and loves to sing along when we sing or with certain songs that play, especially this Minnie Riperton song!
“Loving You” by Mac from Mac & Molly on Vimeo.
Scottie News finds it interesting that Mac’s companion Molly appears to have little musical interest — unlike these singing Scottish Terriers.

Happy Cinco de Mayo from Dr. Watson…(from Cambridge, MA.) According to his guardian Deborah, he’s saying…” Okay and Ole!, Mom… I know you like a good fiesta….but this scottie does not care for tequila…only single malt!”

Ginny writes to share some photos of her rescue Scottish Terrier Gimli, who she describes as “a very timid soul but every bit a Scottie.”
Hmm, I guess the timidness explains why he would consent to wear this outfit:
Being Batman helps make up for the kilt — almost:
And there’s nothing like a classic icelandic sweater to show off a buffed-up Scottie bod:
In other reader dog news, Sarah sends along some pictures of one-year-old Leonardo, known as Leo for short, who makes his home in Haymarket, Virginia. Triple awww!

Ken Ewing writes: “Dallas fills the void left by Whiskie, the late movie star. He joins Chivas and Cutty in the Ewing Scottie Gang.”
And yes, the Ewings do indeed hail from Dallas, Texas where they continue the excellent tradition of naming their Scotties after fine whiskeys. Dallas Dhu, by the way, means “Black Water Valley” in Gaelic. Hmm, shouldn’t that be black gold?
And speaking of Ewings in Dallas, the TV series will be making a comeback this summer.
Above are the puppies that topped the Scottie News last week. Their “fur mom” Sandy wrote: “It was a wonderfully fun photo to take and I’ll always remember that litter. It’s a wonder our household survived their childhood.”
Song and Dash are a brother and sister team from Los Angeles. Their guardian/sylist writes: “We left her hair a little longer since we couldn’t tell them apart. He, though, tends to almost yodel when he barks…..is that a trait?”
Hmmm, does aroooo count as yodelling?
When their sister Amber comes to visit, she likes to snooze on the rocks:
Scottie News will have more photos of your fabulous dogs going up over the long weekend. Stay tuned.

If you are a regular reader, you’ve heard this song before — many times. But here it comes again…
Dear Scottie News readers,
I am so sorry for taking so long to get some of these pictures of your wonderful dogs posted. And I am even sorrier if I’ve forgotten or lost a photo of a much-loved Scottie.
If that’s the case, please send them along again as March break is coming up soon and that means, the Scottie News will have an intern
slavingon duty at our world headquarters.Yours sincerely.

After his guardian Lois used up all her and white and black yarn making him a coat, Barclay cheered for the Dalmation to win Westminster. "Fortunately," writes Lois, "after the photo shoot, the offending 'coat' was removed...and, better yet, there will not be a Pekingese 'coat.'"

Helen writes:
We have had Miyagi (the white and black cat) for about 5 years now and we decided to get a Scottish terrier (Nessie).
Migagi always greets us at the drive way and escorts us to the front gate, off course Nessie is always standing ready to greet us.
At first we thought the cat would really not be able to adjust to her new sibling , slowly they managed to get use to each other.
Nessie is 6 Months old now and at least once a day I see them playfully chasing each other around the house (they each get a turn to chase).
I think its safe to say they are now used to each other.
Above is “Traveler” Bold Article’s Black House Troop at four weeks old late last year. His breeder Marie wrote: “He is a full brother to the Scotties in the Uncle Sherman video and will be going to the same home as his brother Fiddler, who was in the video with the red collar. As a singleton, he has his mom all to himself but for added stimulation, I have added an Airedale beanie baby (right). It gives him something to fight with and snuggle up to when Mom is out.”
Not shy about being photographed, Bridget's half brother, a Mucklewags Scottish Terrier, goes high fashion
Mucklewags, an Ontario breeder, acquired one of Sadie’s nephews last year. His dad is full bro to Westminster champ Sadie.
Maggie (left) and older brother Mac Bentley make their home in eastern Washington state but hail from Idaho.
Ruby from Maryland has a love/hate relationship with TV. She loves watching cooking shows, but attacks the fast action shows and commercials
Tosh likes listening to U2 on the laptop when not hanging out with his Scottie mate, Mac (camera shy)
"Georgie" Bush Butler -- known as Gregory to his Democratic Party friends -- is always on the Internet trying to send email to Miss Beasley, but no reply as of yet
Meanwhile reader Kathleen sent in this link to Molly the Scottie, dog of the day way back on January 31.

Bella's peeps sent this in Dec. 20 so we're not sure if she enjoyed a white Christmas or just a snowy pre-Xmas
Get the full story on the fudge Scotties at Chef Alison’s Hungry Squirrel Cakes. She also decorated a Scottie Dog inspired Christmas cake, about which she will be blogging shortly.

Friday, August 5th, we drove to Buffalo Junction, Virginia, to adopt an 11 week old Scottish Terrier. Being fans of “NCIS,”(Ed’s note: That’s NCIS Naval Criminal Investigative Service
in case, like me, you didn’t know about it) we had already picked out two possible names: “McGee” for a boy. or “Ziva,” for a girl. (I wouldn’t even have thought of naming a dog “DiNozzo.” Although”Gibbs, Abby or Ducky,” might have worked.)
There were 4 Scotties in the litter: 2 male Wheatens and 2 black females. One of the sisters were high energy and the other, very calm. The boys had already been adopted.
We opted for the calm puppy and named her “Ziva.” Ziva had her first visit at the vet’s, today, and is doing quite well. She is very affectionate and enjoys living in the tourist capital of Williamsburg, Virginia.
Congratulations, but I can’t help but wonder who got the high energy female… With any luck it was someone like Tim, who hails from a family whose Scottie roots go way back. He writes:
Let me introduce you to our latest little girl – Moffat IV. She is the 4th for us since our marriage. My folks had 13 during their lifetime, my brother is on his 3rd and my daughter is beginning the search for her 2nd. I’ve been living with Scotties for 67 years and haven’t had a bad one amongst them. The breed speaks for itself without saying a word – but then I’m preaching to the choir. Thank you for your website and the work you put into it. It is a great source of enjoyment, education and other information. AROOOOO
Oh, but those puppies grow up so quickly. Reader Tanya writes from South Africa:
I just love The Scottish Terrier News! I am attaching a photo of my little treasure Poppy. The picture was snapped at the park while playing with her good friend and partner in crime, Luci. The two of them are approximately the same age, 6 months, but Luci clearly has a height advantage which she uses to the full. Poppy however, is never fazed and loves chasing her around the park. Together they are quite comical and provide us with hours of entertainment especially when we get goofy pictures like these.
Thank you once again for a stunning “read” and I look forward to the next edition.
Well, thank you, all of you, for all bouquets. But, honestly, the Scottie News would be nothing without its fabulous readers and all their equally fabulous Scottish Terriers.

I am sending you a funny picture of my Scottie. Both he and my Westie are such a big part of my family so on warm summer evenings when we are sitting in the garden drinking a glass of wine, they always have a chair at the table. But they only drink water. Happy Summer. Best regards Lise
Now, you all can write the caption.
